Std.Bytes.join

1 declaration

fn

join: &Array[Bytes] -> Bytes

This is a callable function.

What it does

Every sequence joined in order.

Neighbours are joined in pairs, level by level, so each byte is copied once

per halving of the part count and every copy is a whole-run copy rather than

a value per byte. Joining 262,144 four-byte parts takes 1.06s this way

against 1.71s when each octet is carried through an array, measured at -O2

beyond the time spent building the parts.

Read the signature

  • The text after the name is the type checked by Pudu.
  • Read arrows from left to right: inputs come first, and the final type is returned.
  • & borrows a value for this call instead of moving or copying it.
  • Names inside [ ] are type arguments, such as the item type held by a collection.
